BRECHTFEST V: WORKS OF BERTOLT BRECHT

“BrechtFest V”, the fifth annual New Orleans celebration of the writings of German poet and playwright Bertolt Brecht, will take place on Monday April 1 and Tuesday April 2 at the Allways Lounge Twilight Room. Both shows are at 8:30pm. The performance of music, spoken word, and puppetry features Chris Beroes-Haigis, Mark Bingham, Sarah Brecht, David Buchbinder, Bremner Duthie, Gabrielle Fischler, Karen Kunkel, Julie Lake from “Orange is the New Black”, Rebecca Leigh, Donald Lewis, Harry Mayronne, Stoo Odom, Susanne Ortner, Anna Laura Quinn, Stephanie Reed, David Symons, Chris Wecklein, and Yusa.

The performers’ collective credits include Broadway, Berliner Ensemble, the original production of Anais Mitchell’s Hadestown, Edinburgh Fringe, and Provincetown Tennessee Williams Festival, as well as the Allways Lounge presentations of Brecht/Weill’s “Happy End” and “The Threepenny Opera” (co-produced with Cripple Creek Theatre); and the bands Obliquestra, The Flying Bulgar Klezmer Band, and The Salt Wives. The performance features the music of Weill, Eisler, Buchbinder, Symons, and Mayronne. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Innocence Project New Orleans.
